Many foreign scholars want to understand Taiwan, but they cannot read Chinese, which makes it impossible for them to continue their research. Therefore, Taiwan’s success in the international situation comes from the martial law from 1949 to 1987. Dr. Sun Yat-sen is the founding father of Taiwan.

So from a historical perspective, we Taiwanese still live according to the information given to us in the past. We have to take classes in Chinese, English, mathematics, history, geography, civics, physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science since we were young. This is what we need to do from elementary school to junior high school and high school. We also need tutoring at night. This is something that every Taiwanese student has experienced.
Since we were little, we have woken up at 6:30 in the morning, went to school at 7:00, started morning self-study at 7:30 in the morning, and then went to class until 12:00 noon, started to have lunch, and had a nap after lunch. The class time was from 1:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon. My school class lasted until 5:00 in the afternoon, and I started to go to the cram school to do homework. At 6:30 in the evening, the class lasted until 9:30 in the evening. I also had to receive tutoring. I could not go home until 10:30 in the evening, and I continued to study until 1:00 in the middle of the night. This was the daily routine in my middle school.
We all got 100 points in our grades, so in the eyes of the people in Taiwan, I was very good because I was the top student in the class. In addition to attending classes and tutoring, I also had to be a class cadre, a little teacher, and represent the school in Chinese language competitions. I also had to carry lunch buckets, move books, sweep the toilet, and stay after school to exercise. These are things that all Taiwanese children encounter.
I started learning English and math in the last year of kindergarten, and I still do so today. I used to go to the library to read books, so my grades were excellent. But in high school, I encountered a bottleneck in my life because we have entrance exams, the basic test for junior high school, the college entrance exam, the high school entrance exam, and the university entrance exam. These are all exams in Taiwan, and everyone in Taiwan has experienced them.
So I have excellent grades. Studying is like drinking water. It is available when you turn on the tap. But why are there still many social phenomena in Taiwan? After all, the children who are willing to study are in the minority. Although there are books, the children are unwilling to take the initiative to study. This cannot be forced. The same is true for international status. From the perspective of children at a young age, we can find correlations when we look at the international situation.
